Help & downloads
Three things are required before you can play: your own copy of Counter-Strike, the hubmix anti-cheat and TeamSpeak3. A fourth is not required and decides whether your shots register — your in-game connection settings. Set all of it up here, then find answers to the most common questions about ranked play, parties and premium.
Requirements & set-up
Your own Counter-Strike
Required · owned on this account
The Steam account you sign in with must own Counter-Strike itself. A copy played through Steam Family Sharing — the Steam setting that lets one account’s games be played on other accounts — is refused when you load into a match server.
Checked at match entry
Steam will only say who owns a copy while the account is actually in the game, so this is checked as you load into the server — not at sign-in — and again at every match. A refusal stands for 7 days: buying your own copy does not clear it sooner, because the only way to re-check is to catch the account in a game. After that, one match entry settles it either way.
Why: bans and cooldowns only deter while a new account means buying the game again.
hubmix Anti-Cheat
Not released yet
Required to queue, and not published yet — there is no installer to download today. When it ships it will be served from the anti-cheat page and nowhere else.
Until then, searching for a match stays closed: the server refuses every queue join unless the anti-cheat is running. Finish your Steam, contact and TeamSpeak3 setup in the meantime so nothing is left to do when it lands.
What the client will do & your live status →TeamSpeak3
Required · voice comms
Connect to the hubmix TeamSpeak3 server before you queue so your team can talk. Get the TeamSpeak3 client from TeamSpeak, then join our server.
Opens teamspeak.com — the official client, not a hubmix mirror.
Connection settings
Recommended · one paste
The only thing here that is not required — and the one that decides whether a shot that was right on your screen is right on the server’s. Your rate and cl_updaterate live in your own config and still hold the values Counter-Strike shipped with in 1999.
No server can set these for you
The game client has refused config commands from servers since 2013, so every plugin claiming to force your rates is doing nothing. The page builds the block for your machine, explains each line and names the famous settings that are placebo.
All three are required to play. You can sort your Counter-Strike licence and TeamSpeak3 out now; matchmaking opens once the anti-cheat client is released, since Play will not let anyone queue without it. The fourth card is not a requirement and nothing checks it — it is simply the difference between the netcode working for you and not.
